Continuing with my tryst with game reviews, here is a fresh one. Elixir of Immortality is a Hidden Object Game developed by Vogat Interactive and published by Big Fish Games.
Before moving towards the story line, the technical essentials:

* Hard Drive: 198 MB
Fortunately, this game is available in the MAC version too.
The game starts off with a video where a potion is being tested on a man and when it doesn't work, a cloaked person kills the helpless man. As a result, you as a Detective are sent to investigate the disappearance of every handyman employed at a castle on a mysterious island. This castle is the residence of five people: A magician, a alchemist, a physicist, a botanist, and a mysterious castle master. You are to carry out this investigation as the next appointed Hired Hand.
In the duration of the game, you are required to carry out the various tasks assigned to you by various scientists, and keep your investigation going in the midst of all this. All this tasks are aimed towards the development of the most sought after Elixir of Immortality, and this project is headed by the mysterious castle owner. As you complete the major tasks assigned by each of the scientists, you find that each of the scientists are killed and placed on ice blocks in the Freezing Chamber. Towards the end of the game, you expose the castle master and the crimes committed by the castle master.
There are two modes of playing this game: Casual Mode and Advanced Mode. The Casual Mode is easier to play as the hints gets recharged very fast and the puzzles give you an option to skip, whereas the Advanced Mode does not recharge the hints as fast as in the Casual Mode and not all the puzzles allow you to skip them. The puzzles in the game are quite interesting and mind-teasing. The storyline is good. The graphics are quite intricate and smooth.
The cons of the game lie in the navigation of the game. After each task, it is difficult to guess what, and where, is the next step of the game. As a result., you end up exploring the whole premise of the game again and again. At first, you might take it in the spirit of adventure, but as the game progresses, the repetitive navigation gets on your nerves.
That said, Elixir of Immortality is quite an enjoyable game. I'd give it a 4 out of 5.

Immortality is still and will always be a myth and that's what makes it interesting fodder for fiction. 😊
ReplyDeleteOnly the review is my work, the actual credit of the game goes to the developers and the story writers. Kudos to the game coders and developers for writing such an amazing storyline for a game. I would definitely recommend playing this game at least once.
